Clippers sweep RailRiders
The Clippers completed a four-games series sweep of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders tonight with in 11-3 victory in Huntington Park.
Columbus collected 13 hits in the game, including an inside-the-park home run by Audy Ciriaco in the second inning and a three-run shot by Carlos Moncrief in the seventh. Giovanny Urshela had three hits and matched Moncrief with three RBI.
Danny Salazar (1-3) came off the disabled list to make his first start since May 30. He pitched five innings, allowing two runs and four hits. He struck out four and reported no trouble with the right triceps strain that put him on the DL.
The Clippers scored seven runsin the seventh and eighth. Elliot Johnson had a two-run double in the four-run eighth. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre helped the rally with three walks and an error ona dropped pop fly by shortstop Carmen Angelini.
The win was the 10th in 12 games for the Clippers, who have moved to within 4 1/2 games of first-place Indianapolis in the International League West Division.
