I haven't seen anything on concert calendars or message boards that seems worthy of recommendation for tonight, but I wouldn't want to only make TV picks. With that in mind, let me tell you about other things you could do on the couch tonight.
Halo 3 comes out today. Find somebody who scored a copy and head over to their house tonight for some multi-player shoot-em-up action.
Also of note: Knocked Up comes out on DVD today. Whether it's your first viewing or your 13th, you will laugh heartily.
As for TV, the most promising option is on the resurgent CW, which offers Reaper at 9 p.m. It's about a guy who gets carjacked by the devil on his 21st birthday, only to find out his parents have sold his soul in order to stave off an early death for his father. Now he has to track down and return hell's fugitives. Could be good...
Two of Fox's better offerings, Bones and House, return tonight at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. respectively. On NBC, the most popular of the Law and Order series, SVU, returns at 10 p.m. with a guest appearance from Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon.
Also at 10 is the debut of a new CBS show called Cane starring Jimmy Smits as the heir to a Florida rum dynasty. That show is notable particularly because it features Nestor Carbonell, last seen as Richard Alpert on Lost. Hopefully if this show succeeds, it doesn't mean we won't see Alpert (and the dark circles under his eyes) on the island anymore.
