I was totally psyched to get this e-mail on Sept. 10:

"I have time with James from LCD at 11am EST tomorrow 9/11...I wanted to see if you were interested...sorry for the last minute notice."

As anyone who reads this blog knows, I'm obsessed with Sound of Silver, the amazing album LCD Soundsystem put out earlier this year. (I feel like that album and Friday Night Lights are all I write about.) So talking to the brains behind it, James Murphy, was a no-brainer. I had such a good time doing the interview that I decided to post the audio online.

Listen to the full conversation in this week's revived Backbeat podcast, then check out the show with Arcade Fire tomorrow night at LC Pavilion. (Doors open early at 6:30 p.m., so don't be surprised if LCD is on stage by 7:30.)

After the interview I thought of about a dozen other things I would have liked to ask about, and I feel like I jumped in to talk a few times when I should have let him keep going. But I think if you're interested in LCD you'll like this.

By the way, if you have trouble with the Windows Media stream on the podcast, try Quicktime. It's working splendidly for me.
