Once again, there's no must-see show tonight, but I can say that the free lineup at Skully's, 1151 N. High St., looks appealing. Most intriguing is the inclusion of Pirate. The inventive post-rock band was a new face beginning to impress when it suddenly imploded last year, but the band seems to be back on its feet and booking shows like crazy. Tonight is the first of four chances to see them this month. Also on the bill are Red Dahlia and the Blood Violets.
But honestly, the thing I'm most excited about is picking up Flight of the Conchords Season 1 on DVD. Amazon has it for $20, so I'm hoping to snag it for that much somewhere in town and spend the night reliving summer laughter. Jemaine, I miss you, and Bret, if you're out there, your beard is good.
As for regularly scheduled programming, I give the new season of Nip/Tuck (10 p.m., FX) a big thumbs-up. Look for a review in this week's paper. The big premiere of the night is The Real Housewives of Orange County (10 p.m, Bravo). I have no interest in this, but Ken Tucker is 'bout it-'bout it, so maybe you will be too. When it comes to Bravo reality shows, I'll wait for Project Runway next week, thanks.
