It's another slow January night on the live music front, so why not turn to recorded music for today? Clintonville's Lost Weekend Records, 2960 N. High St., is in the midst of its month-long anniversary sale. The shop, which celebrates its fifth birthday tomorrow, is offering 20 percent off all used vinyl and CDs. They're open until 7 p.m., so stop by after work.
Lost Weekend is also throwing its annual anniversary concerts next month. As usual, Kyle has assembled a solid lineup. Click here for details.
One show worth going to tonight is This Is My Suitcase at Skully's, 1151 N. High St. I only recently heard about the band, but it turns out they've been making entertaining pop-rock right under my nose. The music smells faintly of mall punk, but there's much more to it than the average Hot Topic band. Usually bands sound nothing like the influences they claim, but This Is My Suitcase comes close to the combination listed in their bio: Ben Folds, Andrew WK, Prince, Queen and Saves the Day. Joining them for this free show will be Ease the Medic, Whetherman and Junior Revolution.
On TV, the juggernaut that is American Idol (8 p.m., FOX) returns. Or you could check out 10 Items or Less (11 p.m., TBS), which EW inexplicably loves.
