Why is Michigan always copying us? First, Ohio invents an awesome college football team, and Michigan tries to field a team of its own. Then the Buckeye State’s economy tanks, and the Wolverines try to one-up us with an even worse economy.

Well this time they’ve gone too far. Just as Columbus is gearing up to launch a new streetcar system, Ann Arbor decides it wants a streetcar system too.

What’s next? Arches over Ann Arbor streets? An unnecessarily large number of shopping malls ringing the suburbs? I think it’s time to get your own ideas, Michigan.

Lots of Columbus streetcar updates this week (a final decision from the mayor is expected in a month or so). For the latest, check Alive’s City Limits blog.
