I hate to hype Cafe Bourbon Street so much at the expense of other venues, but the hipster hub, located at 2216 Summit St., continues to schedule some of the best musical events in town. Tonight, the Weightless crew's weekly hip-hop party, So What Wednesdays, hosts a tribute to producer J Dilla, who died two years ago this week. After five local producers—the legendary J Rawls, Blueprint, Ill Poetic, The Rhythm Section and K81—showcase their work, DJs Pos 2 and Detox will spin Dilla tracks all night long.

As long as we're on the Dilla tribute tip, HiphopDX rounded up The Greatest Dilla Stories Never Told.

And if you want to throw it waaaay back, check out Big Head Todd and the Monsters at Newport Music Hall, 1722 N. High St. I missed these guys back in the '90s, but if you're a fan, doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are $20 and opener Patrick Park (of "the last song played on The OC" fame) will be on stage by 8.
