One of the most purely fun bands in rock arrives tonight at The Basement, 391 Neil Ave. The Black Lips, Atlanta's throwback garage punks extraordinaire, will bring their scruffy, endearingly bouncy live show to the spick-and-span confines of PromoWest's basement bar. Will they be as unruly as they've always been, launching firecrackers and urinating on stage and whatnot? Honestly it doesn't matter; the selling point is their music and the broad grin it will undoubtedly inspire. I agree with Wes Flexner—who cares if somebody did this first? The Lips do it now, and they do it well. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., tickets cost $12 and Quintron + Miss Pussycat opens the show.
On TV, immortal detective show New Amsterdam (8 p.m., FOX) premieres, as does The Real Housewives of New York City (10 p.m., Bravo).
