I'm running short on time here, so I'll just highlight tonight's best live music and leave you to fend for yourself the rest of the weekend.

Two big local release shows highlight the schedule. The Kyle Sowashes (full disclosure: Sometimes I fill in for them on bass) are releasing the superb Yeah Buddy! with a show tonight at Andyman's Treehouse, 887 Chambers Rd. John Ross raved about the record in this week's paper, as well he should. The majestic "Cut Out Bin" alone is worth full asking price. Miranda Sound and Heavy Mole round out the fine lineup of performers. 10 p.m. show, $5 cover if I know Andyman's.

Across town at Carabar, 115 Parsons Ave., up-and-comers Pirate will release a new single. It's entitled Listen to Your Heart, but the main song is actually called "Rebel," and it's damn good. Check out my feature from this week's paper, then get to Carabar around 10 p.m. for a show also featuring Six Gallery and Jonathan Hape.
