The people promoting Bell X1's Columbus tour stop went so far as to call them the second biggest musical sensation in Ireland after U2. That has to at least pique your interest about a band most Americans have never heard of, right? As I mentioned in my preview from this week's paper, the quintuple-platinum pop rockers hopscotch from style to style, tackling everything from Franz Ferdinand-style dance rock to alt-rock power ballads in the vein of Snow Patrol. They used to be in a band with Damien Rice, though, so of course they skew more towards that sensitive singer-songwritery stuff. Brooke Waggoner kicks off this show at The Basement, 391 Neil Ave., where doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $10.

Not much on tonight's TV slate is catching my eye, unless you're curious about the Deion Sanders reality show (10:30 p.m., Oxygen). So you should probably just go to the show.
