The Old Haunts

Big night for live music tonight! Consider:

Olympia, Washington's The Old Haunts, a member of the Kill Rock Stars stable, has a free show at Surly Girl Saloon, 1126 N. High St. Joining them for this shindig will be The Main Street Gospel and the Tough & Lovely's Lara Yazvac, who will handle DJ duties between bands. This one kicks off around 10 p.m. Country/bluegrass kingfish Michael Hurley comes to Rumba Cafe, 2507 Summit St. $8 show starts at 8 p.m. He gets the endorsement of Columbus freak folk forefathers The Black Swans. Blind Melon—yes, that Blind Melon—makes its second Columbus appearance since reforming with a new singer. Apparently they have songs besides "No Rain." Dusty Rhodes & the River Band open the show at Newport Music Hall, 1722 N. High St. Doors open at 7 p.m.; tickets are $17.
