Several shows worth knowing about are happening tonight, not the least of which is French rock band The Feeling of Love's appearance at Carabar, 115 Parsons Ave. Kind of reminds me of a more straightforward, rock 'n' roll version of Cheveu. Might this be the new sound of the French underground? Feeling of love will face off against locals The Unholy Two, Hugs & Kisses and Day Creeper. Starts at 10 p.m. and is free, free, free. (Check out the outrageous poster here.)

Also of note is mewithoutYou, who I always thought was emo, but it turns out they're Jawbox-bred indie rockers with a touch of Okkervil River-style rootsiness and new wave guitars. OK, and a little bit of emo too. But not full-blown like I thought! Anyhow, they're at Skully's, 1151 N. High St., for an early show: Doors at 7 p.m., show from 7:30 to 10. Maps & Atlases and Gasoline Heart will also play. Tickets cost $14.
