There's a slew of good old fashioned rock 'n' roll shows worth mentioning tonight. Tops is probably Seattle's Supersuckers at Ravari Room, 2657 N. High St., which Melissa Starker previewed in last week's paper. Grafton and Hells Fire Sinners open the show. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $15.

That's not all! Athens, Georgia's The Whigs and New York's The Postelles (who actually are rather enjoyable), fresh off a Lollapalooza trip, will appear at The Basement, 391 Neil Ave., with American Bang in tow. Note to bands: Naming yourself "American (blank)" is a surefire way to seem uninventive and have me not listen to your music. (Although I always thought the name "American Dog" was kind of cool.) Local pop-rock greats Earwig will also play, so get there early. 7 p.m. doors, $12 tickets.

But wait, there's more! The hair metal extravaganza at the Ohio State Fair tonight includes Ratt, Great White and Naked Beggars. So yeah.
