Tonight The Summit, 2210 Summit St., welcomes the hardcore circus psychedelia of An Albatross. The band (whose name, first-graders among you, also reads Anal Bat Ross), brings its over-the-type live show from Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to you after a set from the newly reconsitituted The Slide Machine, a near ideal match that fits stylistically but will balance out the Albatross dude's screams and wails with Jeff Kleinman's full-bodied baritone blasts. Should be a sweet one. The cover is probably $5, and although showtime is technically 10 p.m., I wouldn't expect anything to start until after the debate.

Speaking of the debate, my friend and yours, John Ross, will be live-blogging the McCain-Obama showdown and some NPR-sponsored pre-debate programming from COSI. Click here to participate in the conversation.

You should probably watch the debate, but in the event that you prefer to ignore the political process (bad idea!), you could watch something else. But TV seems to be going out of its way to make sure you watch the debate by offering dreck like tonight's premieres The Real Housewives of Atlanta (9 p.m., Bravo), Whose Wedding Is It Anyway? (10 p.m., Style) and the return of Dirty Jobs (9 p.m., Discovery). Oh, and the finale of Making the Band 4 (9 p.m., MTV).

Yeah, you should probably watch the debate.
