Whew! I finally slept off a long, Bands to Watch-filled weekend (thanks to EVERYONE) and am back to work. First order of business: Hyping tonight's Bishop Allen show at Skully's, 1151 N. High St. My preview touched on the many commercials/movies/etc. where you might have heard the Brooklyn indie rockers' music, but digging deeper than their singles would be well worth your time. So would checking out tonight's show with Electric Owls (featuring Andy Herod of The Comas) and those giddy youngsters in This Is My Suitcase, who brought the house down two nights ago at Bands to Watch. Tonight's show costs $8 in advance and $10 at the door, which opens at 8 p.m. Should be unapologetically poppy and furiously fun.
One other show of note, on the more abrasive side: Ipps, the newish project featuring Bo and Emily Davis of Necropolis and Mikey O from El Jesus de Magico, will be at Cafe Bourbon Street with Milwaukee's Head on Electric (think In Utero with even more Albini wrath) and a group called Rocktopus that reminds me of the Snorks playing garage rock. $5, 10 p.m.
