The best live music options tonight double as parties in honor of the presidential inauguration that's going down today. (You may have heard about this Barack Obama character — apparently he's pretty popular with the artsy types.)
Inaugural Ballin' brings together the skewed sounds of Rollo, Marvin the Robot, Dead Set Ready, RTFO Bandwagon and Incognegro. That collection of off-center rockers, folkies and hip-hoppers will descend on The Treehouse, 887 Chambers Rd., beginning at 8 p.m. Beforehand during happy hour, there will be "treats for non-profit sector folk" but I'm not sure if that means there will be a fundraiser for charities or there will be free stuff for charity workers. This event costs $3.
Meanwhile, down at 115 Parsons Ave., Carabar is hosting its own (significantly heavier) shindig called Barack Obama Has a Posse. Besides $1 falafel and beef tacos, the attractions include Muscle Puzzle, The Slide Machine, Churches Burn and Bestfriends. This begins at 9 p.m. and is free.
