Gentleman Auction House
Gentleman Auction House has come through Columbus quite a few times in the past two years. The sprawling St. Louis indie pop band didn't blow me away when I caught a few songs of their set at High Five last year. I thought they weren't getting enough mileage out of their six-person lineup — where's my wall of sound? — but I also remember thinking they were being babies about the poor sound situation, so maybe those are contradictory positions. Anyway, The Other Paper's Joel Oliphint likes them a lot more than I do; check his reviews of their last two Columbus gigs.
Their next stop through this town is tonight at Skully's, 1151 N. High St., where they'll be joined by a cast of local rising stars including This Is My Suitcase, Blastronauts and Our Cat Philip. This is definitely the place to be tonight if you're not working on a top secret project like me. Show starts at 9:30 p.m. and costs $5.
