The Treehouse, The Summit and Ravari Room all have pretty incredible shows lined up tonight.
Grandview's tree room, 887 Chambers Rd., features frequent Columbus visitors TV Ghost, the Lafayette, Indiana-based maestros of maelstrom. (Think of Guinea Worms' twisted stomp with more drugs and way more despair.) Local legend Ron House will perform first at 10 p.m. sharp, followed by TV Ghost and then sets from Night of Pleasure and AS*US. $5 cover charge.
Over at The Summit, 2210 Summit St., Quintron and Miss Pussycat bring their cajun cabaret organ extravaganza to Columbus for the first time since not impressing me last year at the Black Lips show. As my preview indicates, I've warmed up to them slightly. Psychedelic Horseshit and RTFO Bandwagon make fine opening acts for this show. This costs $8 in advance and $10 at the door, which will open at 8 p.m.
Lastly, Ravari Room, 2657 N. High St., welcomes LA's so-called hardcore band The Bronx and Sacto's legit hardcore combo Trash Talk. Here's what I wrote last week about this show: "The Bronx bills itself as a hardcore band, but hardcore bands would be a lot more popular if they sounded like this. Rather than the punishing rhythms those bands employ, The Bronx plays good old fashioned hard rock, the kind that inspires dancing not weighed down by the “slam-” prefix. Yeah, most of Matt Caughthran’s vocals are screams that pierce like shards of glass, but even he breaks out some melodies now and again. Trash Talk, who sound more like a traditional hardcore combo, will open for The Bronx [tonight] at Ravari Room." Doors open at 9 p.m. That'll be $10.
