Artist: Dane Terry Song: "The Telephant"

Dane Terry sounds like no one else in Columbus. There's nothing new about "neo-vaudevillian" piano cabaret, but Terry's take on it is so sincere and personalized as to revitalize a genre that can so easily drift into shtick. His songs are at once innocent and wise, like childhood dreams emboldened by future glimpses. His melodies are easy and unforced, never careening into cliche. And that voice! Not to add another check box on your to-do list, but it would seem wise to check the guy out tonight at The Treehouse with Winter Makes Sailors and Nick Jaina, or with a billion other bands at Saturday's all-day art and music event, Agora 6.
