Margot and the Nuclear So and So's
It's an especially big deal when Margot and the Nuclear So and So's comes through town due to the local connection: Columbus musician at large Erik Kang joined up with the Indianapolis group a few years back to play violin, pedal steel and guitar. (Check my interview with Kang from last year's Lollapalooza.) Tonight the epic Americana ensemble comes to Circus, 1227 N. High St., where they'll be joined by This Is My Suitcase and Everything, Now! This'un costs $12 at the door, which opens at 8 p.m.
Up at Rumba Cafe, 2507 Summit St., scrappy folk-punk idealists RTFO Bandwagon will be playing one of their last shows ever. Andrew Graham explains: "Jen (Boyce) is moving to Montana in July. From that point on it will be a different project." So get there and pick up a vinyl copy of the excellent Dums Will Survive before it's too late. Also appearing: Toronto's The Ghost Is Dancing and Lexington's Bedtime. 10 p.m., $5.
There's also that Outer Sounds show at Oldfield's on High, 2590 N. High St.
And if you're feeling civic and/or want to do some networking, don't forget our What Columbus Needs event at Crew Stadium's Huntington Club.
