Yeah Yeah Yeahs

PromoWest's Arena District complex is the epicenter of quality touring tunes this evening in Columbus. At the big box known as LC Pavilion, 405 Neil Ave., there's the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, making their first Columbus appearance after nine years as a band. (Took 'em long enough.) For more on their splendid third album It's Blitz!, read my feature, starring YYYs drummer Brian Chase. Also: this list. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., tickets cost $23 and Grand Ole Party will open.

Next door at The Basement, 391 Neil Ave., is Jessica Lea Mayfield. Here's what I wrote about the stellar singer-songwriter in last week's paper: "The natural expectation when you hear Jessica Lea Mayfield’s debut With Blasphemy So Heartfelt was produced by the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach is to assume she’s cut from the same cloth. And yeah, Mayfield’s got the blues all right, but not in that big, blustery way the Keys like to work it out. The Kent native is a soulful, sophisticated folkie with songwriting chops beyond her 19 years. See her in action next Thursday with Among the Oak and Ash." For $12 you can get in the doors, which open at 7 p.m.

Also of note: The Felice Brothers at Rumba Cafe, 2507 Summit St. More details here.
