Nearly every song from this album has been sampled in a hip-hop song you love. Willie Hutch, who wrote this score for the 1973 blaxploitation flick The Mack, would've been royalty rich if alive today. Like Superfly and Shaft, The Mack was a fairly decent movie with a fantastic soundtrack that stands alone as a masterpiece of note-perfect soul and funk.

You'll recognize this song from UGK's "Int'l Player's Anthem," a soaring song of love that ripped up the charts just over a year ago. Other Hutch gems have backboned Dr. Dre and Ice Cube bangers. You'll be familiar with about half the album before you even buy it.
