Tonight's best entree is an intimate affair at The Treehouse, 887 Chambers Rd. There you'll find a pair of talented new-ish local acts, Ghost Shirt and The Language Our Fathers Forgot, playing with a couple of pals from Buffalo, Failures Union and Roger Bryan and the Orphans. All this begins at 10 p.m. sharp and costs $5.
Ghost Shirt, as regular readers know, plays sophisticated anthemic indie rock with a touch of stringed splendor, while TLOFF is more in line with the scrappy indie stylings of the previous decade. As for Buffalo's contributions: Bryan's tunes are indie-flavored alt-country tracks in the Son Volt/Silo the Huskie mold, while Failures Union is a mid-90s alterna-pop project — think Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Lemonheads and Gin Blossoms. Interesting tidbit about Failures Union: They feature Jason Draper of hard-touring house-show heroes Lemuria.
