The Hills Market in Worthington has a few fantastic-sounding events coming up during October.

First up is a Pattycake Wine Pairing, where five cupcake creations from vegan baker Jennie Scheinbach of Pattycake Bakery will be paired with five wines from the Hills' wine department. The event is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, and the cost is $15 a person.

Next, Slow Food Columbus offers the multicourse Slow Food Ark of Taste Testing. You'll get to try unique and difficult-to-find items off of Slow Food USA's Ark of Taste list, a list of more than 200 food items in danger of extinction. On the menu is local produce from Wayward Seed Farm, a rare salt from Hawaii and shrub, a sweet-tart punch favored by Martha Washington. The event is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, the cost is $5 for Slow Foods Members and $10 for non-members.

Finally, the Hills' monthly Wine and Cheese Tasting series will visit Australia. Steve Lienert, the chief red winemaker for Australia's Penfolds winery, will be a special guest at the tasting, which includes six wines, six cheeses and six hors d'oeuvres for $35. It starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.

Reservations are required for all three events. Call 614-846-3220 or e-mail manager@thehillsmarket.com.
