Congrats to local vegan bakery Pattycake Bakery, who took home Baking Management's Innovative Packaging of the Year award for its new biodegradable packaging materials.

Owner Jennie Scheinbach recently converted the packaging for her cookies and whoopie pies from a petroleum-based material to the cellulose-based Terraphane, which is 100-percent compostable. The labels are printed with a soy-based ink by Weisenbach Recycled Products in Columbus. Yay for environmental friendliness!
