If you're trying to avoid hanging out with insufferable high school acquaintances tonight, consider dancing to roeVy and CJ at Circus, rocking with Vug at Skully's or jumping through genres with Monta and Shaw at the Thirsty Ear. All three of those events get my unconditional endorsement. (Note: The Fool's Gold show at The Summit has been canceled.)

What about the rest of this Thanksgiving weekend?

Greenhouse

Not much happening Thursday night to my knowledge besides superproducer David Guetta spinning at BOMA, 593 E. Broad St.

Friday and Saturday's Motion Productions anniversary shows at Ravari Room, 2657 N. High St., should offer a good sample of local art metal and indie rock, with Wing & Tusk, Sleepers Awake, Phantods and The Thrashers performing Friday and Old Worlds, Bookmobile and Weezer cover band The Pinkertones taking the stage Saturday.

For more Black Friday fare, there's cult favorite Kiwi punk ensemble Axemen at Oldfield's on High, 2590 N. High St. (Dig the hype.)

And I've been hearing good things about Cincy's Seedy Seeds (The Books + Mates of State?), who'll be at The Treehouse, 887 Chambers Rd., Friday.

For even stranger synth-y strains, Saturday is also the homecoming show for Columbus crabcore forefathers Attack! Attack!, teenage dudes from Westerville who captured some bizarre teenage zeitgeist to become one of the biggest bands in the country. (Remember this feature I wrote on 'em?) They'll be at the Newport, 1722 N. High St.

Saturday's biggest event, though, is the Greenhouse (Blueprint & Illogic) show at Skully's, 1151 N. High St. (preview). Download the new EP Electric Purgatory, Vol. 1 to get ready.

The same venue is also hosting Sunday's top show: Canadian power pop heroes Sloan (preview).

See you back here Monday. Have an exceedingly pleasant Thanksgiving.
