Despite the name, Michael O'Toole's is not an Irish pub. The new Arena District restaurant specializes in classic American meat-and-potatoes meals, with prime rib, burgers and ribs.
But for co-owner Craig Dye, the place is a nod to his heritage, the Dispatch reported. The restaurant is named for his great-grandfather, who opened the Mike Toole's Place restaurant in Shawnee in 1898.
Family photos line the walls, and his great-grandfather's portrait is the centerpiece of the restaurant's logo. The exposed-brick walls, floor-to-ceiling windows and dark woods all speak of the Old World. And in recognition of the original, Michael O'Toole's sign says "Established 1898."
