Christian Howes is kind of a big deal. The globally acclaimed jazz violinist recently returned to his native Columbus to set up shop. That includes a weekly Wednesday residency at Dick's Den, 2417 N. High St., where he'll play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. tonight with departing keyboard master Kenny Banks Jr. Read more about it at Howes' blog, which is where I got the above video of Howes and Banks in action. This will be Howes' last local show for a while.
As for another quite different concert experience on tonight's docket: Judging from the ticker during Lost last night, a lot of events tonight are canceled thanks to the snowpocalypse. But the Schott hasn't indicated that Mariah Carey's first ever Columbus concert is off, so we can only assume it's on. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are steep ($154.50, $89.50 & $49.50), so make sure you get there early to get the full bang for your buck. Who knows, maybe opening act RydazNrtist puts on a good show.
