Tonight Cafe Bourbon Street, 2216 Summit St., welcomes not Two Cow or SoCo but So Cow, an Irish pop-punk singer-songwriter who fits in quite neatly with local openers Day Creeper and The Lindsay. His songs remind me of the jangly power-pop of The Only Ones with the Modern Lovers' deadpan wit. As Pitchfork put it, "Sing-along hooks and scruffy charm abound." This'll be a 10 p.m., $5 deal.
Other shows of note: Detroit's The Sights are at The Treehouse, 887 Chambers Rd. (More details here.) Skylab, 57 E. Gay St., has what appears to be a cool experimental showcase, as is their wont. Carabar, 115 Parsons Ave., has a good local indie pop lineup. And blues rockers Electric Smoke will be at Rumba Cafe, 2507 Summit St.
