Though it jocked My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain pretty hard, "Drain Cosmetics," the first track from Serena Maneesh's debut, was one of the best tracks from 2006.
For the follow-up, the Norwegian band did what their two reverb-drenched forefathers probably always dreamed of doing: They recorded in a cave in Oslo. What came out of those sessions is a delightful mess of echoes, white noise and watery layers. It hits you as if you were standing at the mouth of a chasm -- sometimes muffled, volume changing in waves, sounds cascading off the walls.
