Here's something I've never tried on this blog: a ticket giveaway.

Blackoutfest is the world's greatest gathering of garage punk bands, held annually at historic Athens rock 'n' roll hub The Union. Amazingly, promoter Scott Winland has kept this most booze-worthy tradition going strong for 15 years.

This year's shindig runs from this Thursday through Saturday, April 15-17. The lineup is sick, headlined by homegrown metal heroes Skeletonwitch, D.C.-born/L.A.-based heavy psych monsters Dead Meadow and Detroit bizarro-punks Tyvek. (More mouthwatering bands listed on the poster above.) You and a pal can witness this spectacle for free if you're the first person to e-mail me at cdeville@columbusalive.com. The prize will be two free admissions for the entire fest.
