House of Heroes

House of Heroes is one of this city's most successful rock acts, making waves in Christian rock circles but also gaining respect from many of their fellow pop-punks outside the CCM ghetto. This week Absolute Punk is streaming the band's latest album, "Suburba", out next Tuesday on Gotee Records. You must complete the site's free registration in order to listen.

Despite bearing the usual mall punk hallmarks, opening track "Relentless" is practically prog-rock in its ambitious structure and arrangement. Perhaps, given the album title, this is their answer to Green Day's "American Idiot"? It's certainly a lovely natural progression from their previous epic "In the Valley of the Dying Sun".

The band's Columbus album release event will be Saturday, August 7 at Skully's. It's an early show 6 p.m. doors, over by 10 with The Receiver slated to open.
