"On Sept. 22, 2004, six years ago today, ABC aired the pilot for 'Lost'." So begins Jeff Jensen's latest screed at EW, where he so rigorously covered TV's most addictive/frustrating/mesmerizing/maddening drama for the bulk of the series' run.

May's series finale was, of course, super divisive. The pilot? Not so much. Few TV fans dispute the greatness of the cinematic two-hour introduction to the world of the Island. Well, except for those curmudgeons who think they're being really original when they mumble complaints about the polar bear. You people suck.

Anyway, Jensen's essay is worth a read for nostalgia's sake. To whet your appetite, here's the series' opening scene.
