The first Fashion Week Columbus kicked off this past Saturday. Don’t let that “first” throw you off -- Columbus has had similar events before, but they’ve been like a decent outfit that just needs one or two more pieces to be fully conceived.

Co-founder Dont’e Young says the focus this year is on the fusion of the art and fashion scenes in Columbus. “We wanted the creative types to know you don’t have to leave Columbus to succeed in your industry,” he says.

Creative type or not, the daily lineup sounds promising. The main attraction is Sunday at the Athletic Club, a fashion show for charities that will present local and national designers. Young recommends Wednesday’s event at Vino 100 that will showcase hats created by Veechay Designs. I can’t wait to see the results of Friday’s event at the Social Room—local personalities have designed and are auctioning off Undone Lingerie bras. Young promises they're wearable.
