The Daily Beast has come out with its annual ranking of America's smartest large cities. It's got Columbus in the No. 19 spot this year, behind Cleveland but ahead of Chicago and Indianapolis. According to the Beast's stats, 22 percent of Columbus residents have a bachelor's degree and 11 percent have graduate degrees. And check this out: People in Columbus buy more than 1.2 million nonfiction books per year. That's a lot of trips to the Book Loft!

So who's in last place among the 55 biggest cities? None other than Las Vegas.
