To preview tonight's Foxy Shazam show at The Summit, 2210 Summit St., I interviewed flamboyant frontman Eric Nally in last week's paper. He's quite the character, a mischievous hybrid between Freddie Mercury and your highly encouraging high-school gym teacher.
The Cincinnati glam rock revivalists are enough reason to get me out to the bar on a Monday night. But let's not forget Free Energy is co-headlining this tour, and they're well worth your $12 cover too. The James Murphy-endorsed Philadelphia band digs up a different strain of classic rock, laid back party jams with big power chords and bigger smiles. I've seen them at a couple festivals this year and found it hard not to get caught up in their big, dumb, cheery power pop.
Doors open at 8 p.m. Hollerado is set to open, though locals Cadaver Dogs, featuing Foxy Shazam merch guy Mat Franklin, also seem to think they're on the bill.
