Kenny "f---ing" Powers is f---ing in!

The nominees for the inaugural Comedy Awards, honoring everything funny in movies and television, were announced yesterday and they're not that bad. I had my doubts about the award show that will broadcast April 10 across basically all of Viacom's cable networks (Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, etc.), but there are some refreshing nominees that honor stuff usually ignored by other awards.

It was especially nice to see "Eastbound & Down," a Top Ten choice for me, and its star Danny McBride get some love. "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is another show that get routinely ignored by awards ceremonies, but earned a nod for Best Comedy Series here.

Another place the Comedy Awards give some awards attention to shows that will forever get overlooked is the Alternative/Sketch Comedy category. "SNL" is the only obligatory choice with under the radar gems like "Children's Hospital" and "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job." I really hope "Children's Hospital" wins.

In the more of the same line, Tina Fey and "30 Rock" dominated. "30 Rock" earned a total of seven nominations and Fey earned two ("30 Rock" and "Date Night"). Also, it would've been nice to see "Parks and Recreation," "Community" or "Louie" in Best Comedy Series instead of the familiar "Modern Family" or "The Office." And, "The Boondocks" should be in Best Animated Series contention.
