In all my SXSW busyness it's taken me a week to post this, but here it is: PATH's humbly titled mixtape "The Next Big Thing". This is the big solo debut for one-third of reigning Band to Watch Alleyes Path.
In addition to the best cover art you'll see all year, the 15-track collection boasts collaborations from all over the Columbus music spectrum. From the rap side of things you get L.e, Zero Star and Fabrashay A reprising their PATH-produced track "My City" from Fab's "The Art Show" plus Tyreless and graffiti mainstay Lev Don on "Don't Need Your Help". On the rock end, Jacob Wright of I Am Mute guests on "The Waking Life", and album closer "The King" features guitar work from soul kingpin Nick Tolford and some seriously lively screams from Hurt People Hurt People's Nathan Caraway.
But mostly the spotlight here is on PATH, who makes a pretty convincing case that he is, in fact, the next big thing.
