It was 80 degrees and sunny when we pulled our surfboards from the pick-up truck Sunday morning -- yet we weren't in Southern California. Tigertree owner Josh Quinn and I were in Ohio on a river used mostly by bass fishermen and kayakers.
River surfing has been taking off during the past few years, and the man-made improvements to the Springfield section of Buck Creek make it a solid location for Columbus rippers looking to try the sport.
This trip was a successful test run. As you can see, the water was too low to allow us to stand up. Our foam boards weren't buoyant enough to hold us standing, and the skegs ripped off in the shallow water.
We're still experimenting...
Thanks to Josh for the boards and primer. Thanks to Bill at Underwater Connection for letting me borrow the wetsuit.
