Yourself and the Air

What shows to see this Thursday? Here are two reliable options.

In case you haven't yet read my preview in today's paper, I wanted to let you know Chicago's Yourself and the Air is up your alley if you've ever over-analyzed romantic foibles to the sounds of Death Cab, Aloha or Cap'n Jazz. They'll be at The Basement, 391 Neil Ave., with locals Ease the Medic. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10.

•Cincinnati's Ampline will also be in town, representing the gritty underbelly of whatever Midwest emo those Yourself and the Air guys grew up on. Their Columbus comrades The Garrison are scheduled to open, plus Dead Indians, a project that matches The Sun frontman Chris Burney with members of Greenlawn Abbey. 9 p.m. start on this one. Not sure on the cover, but it will definitely be between $5 and $10.
