Olivia Tremor Control
Pretty busy music night on the docket. Besides a trio of shows at Kobo, Ravari and Rumba for Music Week Columbus (preview here, full schedule here), there are two pretty incredible bands touring through town that probably deserved to make it into print this week.
First, Olivia Tremor Control is playing at the Wexner Center. This is one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the psychotropic 1990s Athens, Georgia pop collective known as Elephant 6. (Does that band name scream "90s!" or what?) It's kind of a big deal that they're touring again. You won't regret dropping $16 on this one. They'll be joined by The Music Tapes, who begin promptly at 9 p.m.
Also, Youth Lagoon is playing at The Basement. Perpetually chill post-rock built around understated singer-songwriter anthems. They're worth plucking out of the endless stream of blog hype bands. 7:30 p.m. doors. $10 tickets.
