The Coachella lineup this year is good enough to make me wish I was going.
About five hours after I excitedly posted yesterday at At the Drive-In was reuniting, Coachella announced that the band was one of several reuniting to play the California festival this spring. Also reuniting: Swedish punk band Refused. And many people will be excited to see Squeeze's name on the poster.
Last year I complained that the Coachella lineup just seemed like a rehashing of previous Lollapaloozas, but this year the Coachella planners have gotten it right, putting together a bunch of musicians that should make any music fan think, "Aw man, I wish I wasn't missing that." The headliners are The Black Keys (who we'll get to see here in March), Radiohead, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, but also on the bill are Bon Iver, Arctic Monkeys, Explosions in the Sky, M83, Feist, Florence and the Machine, and Cat Power.
For those of us who aren't going, we can at least console ourselves with the knowledge that many of the groups have recently played in Columbus, or are heading here soon: Neon Indian, Ximena Sarinana, Arctic Monkeys, Andrew Bird, Girl Talk, Fitz and the Tantrums, etc.
Coachella's site is down at the moment, but you can see the full lineup here.
