Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Marilyn Manson also on the bill
Rock on the Range, the biggest musical event in Columbus, announced its sixth annual lineup today, topped off by hip-hop-inflected nu metal wild cards turned no-longer-wild alt easy listening icons Incubus. No lie, this was my favorite band in the summer of 1999, but I went to their show last summer at the LC and "rock" was not the operative word. I had no idea they were still big enough to headline a huge event like this, but if it means they will ditch the acoustic interlude, more power to them.
Rock on the Range returns to Crew Stadium on May 18-20. The rest of the lineup is suitably aggressive. Other points of note:
--The rest of the headliners are Rob Zombie, Shinedown and (wait for it) Marilyn Manson.
--Cincinnati-based Freddie Mercury lovers Foxy Shazam top the bill for Friday's festival kickoff event, 4Play.
--Columbus artists on the bill: Bobaflex, Attack Attack!
--Bands hipsters might want to see: Mastodon, The Darkness.
--Potentially washed-up but maybe still awesome veterans: Slash, Cypress Hill.
--Former "American Idol" constestants: James Durbin.
