Also: New music from Audio Push, Japandroids and The Dandy Warhols
You didn't think we'd let a week pass without bringing you the jams, did you?
Sigur Ros - "Ekki Mukk"
A new Sigur Ros album is a momentous occasion. To herald the upcoming "Valtari," Iceland's finest has unveiled a lead single that sounds... like Sigur Ros. I'd know that mew anywhere!
A-Trak featuring Danny Brown and Juicy J - "Piss Test"
This is just super nasty.
Best Coast - "The Only Place"
This little ditty is a bit too cute for me. I'm still waiting to hear something else as gorgeous as "When I'm With You." Still, hard to front on that hook. "The Only Place" is out May 15 on Mexican Summer.
Heavy Blanket - "Dr. Marten's Blues"
Four and a half minutes of J Mascis guitar soloing. Thank me later! (On second thought, y-you can thank me now.)
Audio Push - "Wassup"
Not on par with ASAP Rocky's "Wassup," but still a strong entry in the canon of songs called "Wassup."
Azealia Banks - "F--- Up the Fun"
Silver-tongued hype beast Banks teams with Diplo and DJ Master-D for an uncouth party track out of the Missy Elliott playbook.
Japandroids - "The House That Heaven Built"
The kind of rock song that inspires you to lay a massive hug on your bro. "Celebration Rock" is due May 15 on Polyvinyl.
Nicki Minaj featuring Nas, Drake and Young Jeezy - "Champion"
Not sure what to make of Nicki going melancholy and Jeezy resorting to hashtag rap, but you get those four names on a track and it's all but impossible to keep it out of the Jams column. Glad to see Nas continuing his resurgence.
Moonface - "Headed For the Door"
Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Swan Lake) seems to be focusing most on his Moonface project these days, which would seem like a terrible idea if he hadn't come back with a song as compelling as "Headed For the Door." "With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery" is out April 17 on Jagjaguwar.
The Dandy Warhols - "Sad Vacation"
Still Bohemian after all these years. The band's new LP "This Machine" is coming April 24 on The End Records.
