Artist Erin McKenna has.

For our upcoming issue's Gallery Hop preview, I met up with CCAD graduating artists Taylor Hawkins and Erin McKenna. Their award-winning work will be on display at Grid Furnishings in the Short North throughout May and June (more on that Thursday); however, I wanted to plug McKenna's solo thesis exhibition, which opens today at Beaton Gallery (161 Grant Ave.), because it's sweet.

For "Kissing Pink," McKenna took lyrics from rap and hip-hop songs and then artistically imagined them in a literal context. Euphemisms are sexy, but kind of silly when you look at them this way. For example, "Redbone" is a reference to the Lil Wayne lyric "I like a long-haired thick redbone."

The cat illustrations are also amusing. Meow.

The exhibit will be up through this Friday, May 4. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
