The rapper-producer tackles cloud rap with help from Columbus and beyond

At midnight, Columbus rapper-producer Jared Young a.k.a. Path a.k.a. Producing All The Hits a.k.a one-third of Alleyes Path dropped his latest mixtape, an all-originals affair called "Ethiopiates." Although it boasts production from Texas talent Beautiful Lou and Vancouver's North Kid and dabbles in the cloud rap that's all the rage in the Bay Area, it's a distinctly Columbus affair. Among those who chipped in: producers Jacoti Sommes (Hugs & Kisses, Envelope) and Woodrow Wilson (The Yachtsmen); rappers Metro, Lev Don, Alleyes Manifest, LxE, Fabrashay A and P. Blackk (who also painted the album cover); and Power 107.5's DJ Giovanny, who hosted the tape and knitted its tracklist into a floating deja vu collage. Look for my interview with Path in this Thursday's issue of Alive and check out the release party Friday at Carabar, but in the meantime, download or stream "Ethiopiates" at
