Plus: Hear a new song from the band featuring Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner and Columbus musician Sam Brown.
Divine Fits will play Ace of Cups on August 6. The indie-rock supergroup featuring Britt Daniel (Spoon), Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs) and Sam Brown (New Bomb Turks, Gaunt, The Sun, RJD2, Anna Ranger, You're So Bossy) will host its third-ever performance at the tiny Columbus rock club at 2619 N. High St. The band's first two gigs will be in Austin (Aug. 1) and Montreal (Aug. 3), the hometowns of Daniel and Boeckner respectively.
Brown posted this note on Facebook: "We are in need of some serious release and couldn't be more jazzed to play in front of living sweating human beings. I'm especially excited to share this experience with people who have been nothing but amazing to me for many years. I can't think of a better joint than Ace of Cups to kick this off. See you there August 6th. Connections are opening. Don't miss them. You can DVR the olympics. Sam"
Tickets aren't on sale just yet, but they cost $15; buy quickly because this will sell out. As Brown's note mentions, Columbus indie supergroup Connections will open.
Divine Fits' album "A Thing Called Divine Fits" comes out August 28 on Merge Records. The "My Love Is Real" 7-inch drops July 31, also on Merge. Hear "My Love Is Real" plus a very Spoon-y song called "Would That Not Be Nice" below.
