Serial restaurant entrepreneur Cameron Mitchell is getting ready to start hiring for his latest venture, The Pearl.
The gastropub and oyster room, which will focus on locally sourced, upscale food in a casual, tavern-like atmosphere, is set to open in the Short North neighborhood on Feb. 5, 2013. It's the first new restaurant in five years for Mitchell, well-known in Columbus dining circles for his Cameron's American Bistro, Cap City Diner and Marcella's, among other restaurants.
Cameron Mitchell Restaurants LLC will hire 70 servers, bar chefs, guest services, cooks and server assistants to staff the new restaurant at 641 N. High St. in Columbus, next to Marcella's, said Heather Leonard, the restaurant company's vice president of marketing, in an email.
"We are also interviewing current associates who wish to transfer to The Pearl, and we are conducting auditions for bar chef and cook transfer associates," Leonard said. The hiring office for The Pearl opens on Monday, Dec. 17, at 692 N. High Street, Suite 312, she said. Prospective employees can download a job application from the company's website.
Earlier this week, the restaurant company said two Cameron Mitchell Restaurants veterans would oversee the final details for the restaurant. Amberlyn Heiney, who is assistant general manager of Marcella’s in the Short North, has been appointed general manager for The Pearl. And Peter Chapman, who most recently served as executive chef of Martini Modern Italian in the Short North, will oversee the kitchen and menu as executive chef at The Pearl.
“We believe this new concept is just the right complement to our current concepts, and that it truly will be a jewel in the Short North," Mitchell said in a press release.
