2 Guns is a poorly executed movie despite the collection of Academy Award winners/nominees in the leading roles and the promise of an explosive action flick at the end of the summer blockbuster season. Starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg asrobbers with a role in law enforcement, the movie trots out every action movie/buddy cop clicheunder the sun and replays itto predictably tired results.

The stars cannot save 2 Guns from the unbreakable pull of bad writing and plot development. While a few moments of interplay between the two are charming, the inability of the story to close out plot lines makes the film a failure according to critic Melissa Starker.

"Intricate storytelling can be a virtue when everything comes together cohesively and characters' motives are clear. In this case, loose ends litter the screen and every character is motivated only by the need to fulfill genre expectations...," Starker said in her review.

She rated the 2 Guns 1-and-1/2 stars.
