Featuring The Alley, Old Familiar Barbershop and free fashion magazines.
1) "Focus on the '40s." That's the name of the event at vintage clothing store The Alley in Dublin being held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. The shop will have special areas set up specifically selling dresses, hats and menswear from the era when classy was king. Music from the decade will set the tone for the day, and there will be World War II re-enactors at the store with displays of old radios, fax machines, cameras and other technologies from that historical time. 2) Comb your hair. To celebrate the fact that Old Familiar Barbershop's bottle comb opener Kickstarter project raised $22,352 of its $2,500 goal (yeah, read that again), the boys of the shop are crossing the street to Carabar for a party. Grab a beer, rock out to some Nick Tolford and take your picture with the world's largest bottle opening comb. 3) Read a magazine. Online and for free, that is. Issuu is a digital magazine publishing format that has some of its publications available for free perusal. There is a list of categories on the left side of the Publications page so you can pick what type of magazine you're looking for. Style fans will love clicking through the Creative category's offerings.
